How to Back Out a Wind Guard Screw That’s Screwed in Too Far

How to Remove a Screw that Is Screwed in too Far in Your Wind Guard Hardware

If you find that a screw in your wind guard hardware is screwed in too far and you’re unable to back it out, follow these steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Find a Thin Object: Locate a thin, sturdy object such as a knife, putty knife, or a similar tool.
  2. Apply Pressure: Slide the thin object between the tip of the screw and the back surface of the wind guard hardware. Apply gentle pressure to push the screw outward. This helps the screw catch the threads so it can be unscrewed.
  3. Use a Screwdriver: While applying pressure behind the screw, use a screwdriver to turn the screw counterclockwise and back it out.
